The DJ Project
Rediscover the Desktop
General Behavior
- A Shell handler is implemented on Windows to provide default icons for library and executable JAR files (thanks to Issam Chehab and his great C++ skills!)
- Custom icons are extracted from the JAR file and converted to the native icon format dynamically.
- Utility application named DJ Tweak allows to manipulate the icons that are displayed.
- The content of the manifest is visible on Windows when looking at the properties of a JAR file, in the form of a new "Manifest" tab.
To Do
- Only Windows is supported as of now, but we lack the competencies to implement the same functionality for other platforms.
- More ideas are to be investigated, like the addition of a shell extension to the Windows Explorer to see Webstart's cache as a special folder ("My Webstart Applications")
